Conservation Easement
The property, deemed relatively undeveloped, has been granted a conservation easement in The San Juan Preservation Trust. The 25.22 acres of open fields and woodlands (see light blue outlined area) is one of several San Juan Valley conservation easements.
The easement allows for two homes within the centered, structures area (dotted white area) on this property. Adding to the privacy of this property is the meandering driveway (red dotted line).
The easement has been created to protect the regional pastoral nature and scenic beauty of this property. Because this property has a history of grazing, agricultural use is preserved in the easement.

Protected by the Olympic Mountain rain shadow, the island receives half the rainfall of Seattle.
Like many of its neighbors, including the valley below, this property is forever safeguarded from over-development through a San Juan Preservation Trust conservation easement.
